The Union Inn in Moretonhampstead hosted this event last Thursday - it's a great pub with some lovely ales - and it also has a 'backroom', the kind in which many an uprising have been plotted, maybe tonight would do the same?
As it happens, the event went really well for me, I was picked as the first candidate to speak and I waded straight in with my opening three minute speech. As you already know, I had been banned from filming myself after the organisers came under pressure from the Tory Mel Stride who had threatened to withdraw from the event if I was allowed to ...
Here's the text of my profile in this week's Herald Express.
You may wonder why I would bother to stand as an Independent in this constituency when there’s already such a wide choice of attractive policies already on offer...right across the spectrum, starting at the right and reaching all the way to the far right! It's been a mad three weeks and I've had to do virtually everything myself, from building this website to taking on the other candidates in a series of hustings meetings across the constituency.
It's been completely different to how I imagined it might be, and quite difficult at times, but overall good fun, creatively fulfilling, and it's had it's fair share of bizarre coincidences and oddball moments too.
As an Independent with no funds and no ...
So, my campaign kicked off tonight with a hustings in Bovey Tracey parish church.
It was quite lively at times, I quite enjoyed it, and the hoo-ha I had with one of the other candidate's agent over my apparently blatant subversive attempt to discredit his boss by filming the event and posting it on line really added to the fun. So did the overt and often hilarious bias of the chairman who ensured Mel Stride had more than double the time afforded to me in which to speak. Still, that's democracy I suppose.
Yours in Solidarity,
This is the website for Arthur Price, your Independent Candidate for the Central Devon constituency in the 2015 General Election. This website is under construction, the all singing all dancing version will be online very soon. Cheers, Arthur Price.
