Dear Folks of Central Devon,

Arthur Price here, your Independent choice for July 4th.  Let's begin with an undeniable fact:

The Tories will lose this election and we'll see a new Labour government in charge within a month from now.  In fact, they won't just lose, they'll get thrashed.

You'd expect to find some comfort in that wouldn't you?  But, those who live at the sharp end of austerity, with record stagnation of wages and rocketing rents, will find little to celebrate in this news.  12 million people live in poverty in the UK, including over 4 million children, through no fault of their own.  In the world's 6th biggest economy.

The Labour Party is supposed to prioritise the welfare of the less fortunate, it's why they were founded in the first place. 'Changed' Labour appear to have abandoned their core principles in favour of keeping bankers bonuses, giving tax breaks to the rich and continuing the privatisation of the NHS.  And that's just for starters.  Which is why millions of people across the country, myself included, can no longer support them.

So, with nobody on the ballot paper offering the radical change we desperately need in this country - and in this constituency - I've put myself up for election to give you the chance to vote with your conscience.  I'm not a politician, I'm an ordinary member of the public from Devon, born in a council house in Lustleigh. And the welfare of those who lay awake at night worrying about paying for heating or food is my priority.

Over the coming days and weeks I shall be uploading videos in support of my campaign. I have no campaign budget, no donors, no posters and no leaflets. So, if you see something here that resonates with you please share far and wide throughout your social media.

Thank you my friends.
Yours in Solidarity,
Arthur Price.
