GE 2017

Evening All, I've received a fair few messages in the last week asking me if I'll be standing as a candidate in the forthcoming election. Well, I'm not, so I've just popped in here to briefly explain why. First of all, I'm working abroad for most of the campaign. Yes, Theresa May has deliberately and cynically called this election while I'm out of the country! I'm sure Mel Stride (and his vicious little attack dog) will be relieved. And I hope if anyone else stands as an Independent in Central Devon they're prepared for the hostility and behind-the-scenes bitterness and vitriol I had to face in 2015 from my Conservative opponent and his ...

We Are The 48%

Here’s a picture of my crew in the days when we were happy and free to work in Europe without having to apply for work visas or provide pages of paperwork at every check point.  It was taken in the days when we were affordable.  It was taken the day before yesterday. Today we’re in Padua, Italy, for the last show of our tour.  In the last six weeks I’ve been to 22 countries – 22 fantastic European countries where I’ve worked alongside some great international crews and not once have I been made to feel unwelcome, and not once have I been made to feel I’m nicking someone else’s job.  The EU, for all its faults, has given me the ...

Use Your BRain, Vote BRemain.

Morning Lovers, Arthur Price here, your local part time Leader of the Resistance and Independent Candidate for Central Devon at last year’s general election.  I’ve been quite quiet for the last year (silent even) but now, on the eve of the Tory Party leadership election – sorry, the EU Referendum – I feel compelled to share some thoughts with you, especially with my friends who are on the verge of voting to leave the EU, or BRexit as some tosser in a press office office somewhere decided to brand it. Here’s the thing right, I’m gonna vote BRemain (that’s the first time I’ve used that word and when I’m President of the People...

Thank You…

I had a short speech prepared for the announcement of the result which opened like this: "I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me, in fact there were so few of you I'll be able to do so in person over the next couple of days..." As it turned out, I got considerably more votes than I expected – 347 in total –  and I was impressed and happy with that, but as I said throughout my campaign, this election wasn’t about the amount of votes I polled, it was about getting my message out there.  Whether or not I was successful in this respect I can’t really tell.  I certainly made an impression at the hustings events and the feedback I’ve ...

A Fantastic Email from Australia

I received this email this morning from a very nice chap called Ben Follett in Western Australia... Hi thought you'd like to see our postal vote slips! We live in Western Australia. In February the coalition had a campaign to get more overseas voters to sign on to the electoral role. we dutifully signed up only to be told that voting slips would not be posted out earlier than 11 days before the election and must reach the returning officer by Election Day. The good news is that they arrived this morning. with the best airport connections and a hire car with the engine running at heathrow T4 the journey to Tavistock takes 31.5 hours. ...

Snowflakes – A Guest Blog by James Vine

Thank you to James Vine for this guest blog. The Myth of the “Wasted Vote” Arthur Price lives in Central Devon. He has done for a very long time. It is a rock solid Tory seat, and as Arthur readily accepts, is going to stay that way come May the 7th. BUT, That hasn’t stopped him from standing as an independent candidate. This blog, something of a departure from my usual fare, explains why I am going to vote for Arthur, and why we should all take a step back from industrial politics and think. Here is a link to Arthur’s website Its worth looking at for the video of his first hustings performance (the Tory banned them after this ...

People’s Republic of South Devon

The People's Republic of South Devon is a fabulous news and magazine website who have featured me a few times during my campaign. Crediton Hustings

Here's the Crediton Courier's review of the hutings we had on Thursday night at the Queen Elizabeth College. With the exception of Lynne Richards the photo looks as though it's the inaugural meeting of Crediton Weight Watchers Club. Click on the image to enlarge it.

About Donations to my Campaign

Remarkably, I have had several people contact me to ask how to donate to my campaign. The offers have come from people who I have never met, who saw me speak at the hustings events and who have seen my viral video of me speaking at the Bovey Tracey event. The mere fact they have offered me a contribution has done wonders for my self belief and I cannot thank you enough. I have decided to decline all offers of funding, for two reasons. First of all, the election campaign is almost over and although it has cost me a few quid to embark on this strange and enlightening experience, I feel a better contribution would be to spread the word and get my ...
