About Donations to my Campaign

Remarkably, I have had several people contact me to ask how to donate to my campaign. The offers have come from people who I have never met, who saw me speak at the hustings events and who have seen my viral video of me speaking at the Bovey Tracey event. The mere fact they have offered me a contribution has done wonders for my self belief and I cannot thank you enough.

I have decided to decline all offers of funding, for two reasons.

First of all, the election campaign is almost over and although it has cost me a few quid to embark on this strange and enlightening experience, I feel a better contribution would be to spread the word and get my message out there. To that end I would be very grateful if you could post links to my speeches and videos wherever you can. Tell your mates about my campaign in the pub. Come and support me at my final hustings in Ashburton Town Hall on Sunday 3rd May at 6pm. This would be a great help, thank you.

Secondly, there is a possibility we could all be going through this charade again in less than a year from now. If the Tories (or Labour, but I suspect it’ll be the Tories) have to govern as a minority party I could see there being a vote of no confidence before too long and another election will be called. If that happens I will throw myself into a much bigger, committed, organised campaign and I will indeed be seeking donations to help me achieve that. The overwhelming positive feedback I have had from my very small campaign over the last two weeks has been enough to convince me that I am not alone in the world, and that there are many others across Central Devon who will join me in making our voices much much louder.

In the meantime, let’s spend the last 5 days spreading the love as far and wide as possible. I will be starting in the The Cleave pub at about 7pm this evening! Cheers!
